NEW DELHI, March 12 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian Prime Minister Vladimir
Putin noted a great contribution of the Gandhi family in the development
of Russian-Indian relations.
"We established very good relations," the Russian premier said at a
meeting with Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the ruling United
Progressive Alliance and the Indian Congress Party. "Our interstate
relations are developing quite well," he noted. Putin said he already had
a meeting with the Indian president and held an online conference with
Indian businessmen and public figures on Friday.
"All this makes it possible to confirm that our relations are
developing very positively that is favourable for the peoples of the two
countries," he noted. "We do not forget in Russia that your family played
a great role in this," Putin added.
For her part, Sonia Gandhi stated that India considers Vladimir Putin
as a friend.
Sonia Gandhi recalled that the relations between Russia and India were
established more than 50 years ago and were characterized as nothing but
true friendship all these years.
