Talks on NKorea may be resumed July 10.
SEOUL, June 30 (Itar-Tass) -- Another round of six-party talks on the denuclearisation of North Korea will begin, most probably, on July 10, a source in the South Korean government said here on Monday on conditions of anonymity.
According to his information the reason for that is the
unwillingness of the North Korean authorities to resume the discussion
this week, the Renhap news agency reports.
In addition to that, Tokyo does not want the six-party talks to
coincide in time with the G8 summit, due to be held in the city of Toyako, in the northern part of Japan, on July 7-9.
So far as North Korea is concerned, it objected to the resumption of the six-party talks this week, referring to "technical problems," the source continued. According to his information, the exact date of the resumption of the talks has not been named so far.
The date is being coordinated now, and the talks will begin soon,
since "all the participants favour their resumption as soon as possible," said press secretary of the South Korean ministry of foreign affairs and trade Mung Dae Young.
Recent statements of officials from the U.S. State Department were made in the same vein. The coming discussion is expected to be focused on the verification of information about the activities in
the nuclear sphere, submitted recently by Pyongyang in the nuclear
declaration, as well as on ways on liquidating North Korea's nuclear
programmes.
