20 people reported missing in Kazakhstan floods.

ASTANA, March 12 (Itar-Tass) - The floods in Kazakhstan's Alma-Ata
region caused dam bursts as rescuers scrambled to evacuate hundreds of
people. Some 20 people are missing, the press service of the republic's
Emergency Situations Ministry reported.
"There're fatalities, their number is being specified," the press
service said.
Emergency officials said 140 households in the village of Zhylbulak,
Karatalsky district, were inundated after spring floods eroded the local
dam on March 11. The village has a population of 820. A majority of the
villagers were evacuated. They were accommodated in the building of the
local comprehensive school. The elderly and the children were brought to
other settlements.
Also on March 11, the Kyzyl-Agash dam burst in the Aksusky district,
flooding 257 households in the village of Kyzyl-Agash. Some 3,000 people
were evacuated from the danger zone.
Kazakh authorities have set up a crisis headquarters which is
coordinating the rescue efforts.
