PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, March 14 (Itar-Tass) - A magnitude 5.6
earthquake hit eastern Kamchatka early on Sunday. There were no casualties
or damage, and no tsunami warnings were issued, the branch of the
Geophysical Service under the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN) told
Itar-Tass.
The epicenter of the earthquake was registered at a depth of 10.3
kilometers in the Avachinsky Bay, 62 kilometers from Shipunsky Cape, at
09:42, local time (00:42, Moscow time).
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, situated 137 kilometers from the epicenter,
was rocked by magnitude 2 to 3 ground tremors. Residents of the town of
Yelizovo felt tremors, too.
