Pollution detection centres

Abu Dhabi, July 1, 2008 (WAM) - The Environment Authority - Abu Dhabi is currently coordinating with companies and factories to set up air pollution detection stations on their projects' sites all over the emirate, Majid Al Mansoury, General Secretary of the authority, said recently.

Al Mansoury told Khaleej Times that these stations could detect the level of
air pollution resulting from the machinery and operations and help identify
the causes of the pollution, leading to ways to cut down on emissions.

It would be mandatory for the firms to have such stations, and the required law
to enforce the decision on uncooperative companies is under way. He added
the authority has taken measures to transform the air monitoring station in
the emirate to a monitoring centre for climate change.
