Yonhap News Agency begins live news broadcast service on iPhone

SEOUL, March 15 (Yonhap) -- Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's largest newswire
service, said Monday that it has started a live news broadcast service from its
iPhone and iPod Touch application, available on the App Store from Apple Inc.

The live news, featuring breaking news and analysis from the Korean Peninsula and
Yonhap's wide global correspondent network, will go on-air between 9 a.m. and 6
p.m. seven days a week delivering Korea-related issues around the clock,
Seoul-based Yonhap said.
The live news service is only available through wireless fidelity (WiFi)
connection and not through the telecom operator's cellular network as visual
files incur high data fees on cellular networks, it said.
Yonhap plans to release the live news broadcast service on applications running
on other smartphone operating systems, such as Google Inc.'s mobile operating
system, Android.
The application is free and available in four languages -- Korean, English,
Chinese and Japanese. The live news service is delivered only in Korean.
