NEW BORN ANIMALS SURVIVE
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ As of March 12, some 1.2 million new born animals are surviving nationwide, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry reported Tuesday.
It is estimated that about 13.8 million breeding stock will produce young animals this spring. However, only 10.8 million breeding animals are expected to give the birth due to severe winter that influenced millions of breeding animals to have a miscarriage.
As of March 15, a total of three million 847,364 heads of livestock have perished due to zud disaster nationwide. Majority of them were small animals (sheep and goat) and breeding stock. Ovorkhangai province is leading in the loss of livestock (682.500) followed by Zavkhan, Dundgobi and Arkhangai.
