SOCHI, the Black Sea, March 20 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian city of
Sochi, the capital of the 2014 Winter Olympic games, is getting ready to
meet the Olympic and Paralympic flags which will be delivered on March 26.
The Olympic symbols will arrive at the airport from where they will be
taken to a railway station. A column of people will meet the flags there
and escort them to Sochi's main square, a source at the Sochi city
administration told Itar-Tass on Friday.
"We should receive the Olympic flags properly. As of that day, Sochi
will officially get the Olympic capital status, " the mayor of Sochi,
Anatoly Pakhomov, said prior to his departure to Canada.
On March 21, Pakhomov will participate in the closing ceremony of the
Paralympic Games in Whistler.
The Olympic flags will be raised to their flagpoles near the Sochi
administration building where the flags are going to stay under protection
until the construction of a new Olympic building is not completed in Sochi.
A subsidiary of the Lausanne Museum of the Olympic Movement will open
in Sochi in June.
