China`s vice-president begins visit to Russia from Vladivostok.
VLADIVOSTOK, March 20 (Itar-Tass) - China's Vice-President Xi Jinping
is beginning a four-day visit to Russia. He will start his trip from
Vladivostok in the Far East where he will discuss prospects of border
cooperation between the two countries.
The Chinese delegation will stay in Vladivostok for two days and will
leave for St. Petersburg on Sunday, the press service of the
administration of the Primorye region told Itar-Tass.
The Russian government press service reports that Xi Jinping will meet
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on March 23 to discuss urgent issues
of Russian-Chinese cooperation.
Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping will be present at a ceremony of opening
the Year of Chinese Language in Russia. Besides, Xi Jinping will
participate in the opening of the second forum of political parties of the
two countries.
On Saturday, the Chinese delegation will visit a railway station in
Vladivostok and a memorial complex of the Russian Pacific Fleet. A
bilateral Russian-Chinese meeting that will focus on questions of border
cooperation between the Russian Primorye territory in China's North
Eastern provinces as well as the role of the Primorye territory in the
Asia-Pacific region.
On March 21, the Chinese delegation will see how Vladivostok is
preparing to host the 2012 APEC summit, including the construction of a
bridge over the Golden Horn Bay. The Chinese guests will also visit an
All-Russian children's centre 'Ocean' where children from the Chinese
provinces have spent the last two years.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry reports that relations of strategic
partnership between Russia and China are moving along the path of quick
and healthy development.
"We are sure that the Year of Chinese language in Russia will
contribute to elevating cultural ties between the Chinese and the Russians
to a new height and to further strengthening of mutual understanding and
friendship between our peoples," a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign
Ministry said.
