Putin hopes for success of Year of Chinese Language in Russia.

MOSCOW, March 23 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin
has expressed the hope that the Year of the Chinese Language in Russia
that will be unveiled on Tuesday will be a success.
"I am confident that the Year of the Chinese Language in Russia will
be successful," he said at the meeting with Chinese Vice President Xi
Jinping.
He reiterated that recently festivities devoted to the Year of the
Russian Language in China ended there.
"Within the framework of the festival almost 200 events engaging
thousands of people took place. Today we are passing the baton to the Year
of the Chinese Language in Russia," Putin said.
The prime minister noted that Russia has always showed interest in
China. One of Putin's daughters was keen on China's culture and studied
the Chinese language.
Xi Jinping said in turn China "also shares the deepest feelings of
friendship to Russia, its people and culture." "People of my generation
were brought up under the favourable influence of the Russian literature,"
he said.
