Chinese specialists visit Beloyarsk NPP to borrow experience.

YEKATERINBURG, March 23 (Itar-Tass) - Chinese nuclear experts,
currently on a visit at the Beloyarsk nuclear power plant (BNPP), plan to
familiarize themselves with its experience of construction and operation
of fast reactors on Tuesday.
The foreign specialists have displayed special interest in fast
reactor technologies, as China plans to host its own Russia-designed fast
reactors, the BNPP's press service told Itar-Tass.
"The delegation comprises representatives from the Chinese nuclear
company CNNC, which, jointly with Russia, has already built and introduced
into service an experimental fast reactor in China earlier this year.
Members of the delegation will familiarize themselves with the BNPP's
power unit BN-600 and with progress in the construction of the BN-800
reactor," the press service said.
Another Chinese delegation, from the Nuclear Power Institute of China,
Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center and the Nuclear Power Engineering
Corporation will visit the BNPP in several days' time. They also plan to
see the BN-600 reactor in action, look into the work to build the BN-800
reactor and visit the BN-600 reactor's simulator.
The contract on the fulfillment of pre-project work for the
construction of two power blocks equipped with two fast reactors BN-800 in
China was signed during Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's visit to
China in 2009.
The BNPP is a unique facility, where a generating unit powered with
the fast reactor BN-600 has been in use for 30 years. A still more
powerful 800-megawatt fast reactor BN-800, is being built there. Its twins
are to emerge in China in the foreseeable future.
