China supports strong and democratic Russia - official (adds).

MOSCOW, March 23 (Itar-Tass) - China's Vice-President Xi Jinping
emphasized on Tuesday the role of Russia as one of the key players on the
world arena.
"We support a democratic and strong Russia as one of the poles in the
present-day world order," the Chinese official said at talks with Russian
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
He stressed that China wants Russia to "play an important role in
international and regional affairs, that would be in line with its status
of a great power".
According to Xi Jinping, China expects that its relations with Russia
would progress to a higher level. "We will support you by all means," he
said, adding that China "seeks to bring our mutually advantageous business
cooperation to a higher level".
"China expresses readiness to settle jointly with Russia issues of
bilateral cooperation," the vice-president said. "We support measures to
establish order in the trade sector," and in particular to stop the
so-called customs clearance abuse, he stressed.
"We express support for fight against illegal migration," he added,
stressing that the two countries "must create favourable conditions for
mutual trips of two countries' citizens".
"As for issues of protection and rational use of trans-border rivers,
we believe that if the construction of water facilities on trans-border
river is considered in the future, the sides must inform each other
beforehand and act on conditions of changing neither the quality of water
nor river streams," he stressed.
"In the process of profound transformations of the world economic
order, we must take into consideration the interests of Russia, China and
developing countries," Xi Jinping stressed. "China and Russia must keep
favouring them, as well as the establishment of multi-polar world and
democratisation of international relations," he added.
"In conditions of a changing international situation, it is very
important for us to maintain the current content of Russian-Chinese
relations," the top Chinese official stressed.
