BARVIKHA, March 24 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
said Moscow and Beijing remain strategic partners. Medvedev made the
statement at a meeting with China's Vice President Xi Jinping.

Medvedev said much time had passed since their last meeting in May
2008, but "good relations, the relations of strategic partnership
characteristic of our countries have not changed."
He noted that "constant contacts exist between the leaders of the two
states."
Last year, Medvedev met with Chinese President Hu Jintao five times.
He reminded that the Year of the Chinese language in Russia was opened
on Tuesday.
"Our contacts are developing in all directions," Medvedev said, noting
that the schedule of Xi Jinping's visit to Russia is rather busy, because
he is visiting no only the Russian capital, but also Russian regions, thus
contributing to the development of regional relations between the two
states.
For his part, Xi Jinping passed greeting to Medvedev from the Chinese
leader and reminded that two years ago, two weeks after Medvedev election
to the post of president, he made a state visit to China.
"It's very pleasant to me that you pay much attention to the
development of relations between our states," Xi Jinping noted.
