CSTO chief in Tajikistan to discuss Afghanistan.

DUSHANBE, March 26 (Itar-Tass) -- Secretary General of the Collective
Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordyuzha will discuss the
situation in Afghanistan with Tajik top officials on Friday, as well as
preparations for the June summit of the organization that unites Russia,
Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
"The complicated situation in Afghanistan, on which the situation in
the region and Tajikistan depends in the final end, is high on the agenda
of the CSTO secretary general," Tajik Security Council secretary Amirkul
Azimov told Tass.
Besides, "there are issues of bilateral cooperation in the CSTO
framework. We shall discuss the implementation of the signed agreements
and the general situation in the region," he said.
Bordyuzha is to meet Foreign Minister Khamrakhon Zarifi, parliament
lower chamber speaker Shukurdjon Zukhurov, and Defense Minister Sherali
Khairullayev.
Bordyuzha said before the visit "a regular exchange of opinions
between state agencies, political centers and public organizations to
assess the situation and forecast its development is an important element
of agreed information policy of the organization."
Bordyuzha will participate in a round-table that will discuss the
system of collective security in Central Asia and prospects up to 2015.
The event will discuss the military-political situation in Central Asia
and measures to improve collective security to promote Tajik national
interests, in particular.
