INDONESIAN MIGRANT WORKER'S BODY STORED THREE MONTHS IN SAUDI ARABIA
Madiun, E Java, March 28 (ANTARA) - The body of Sri Harniati (42), the Indonesian migrant female worker who died about three months ago was still stored in a Saudi Arabia`s hospital due to identification problem, a manpower official said.
Head of the Madiun Manpower and Transmigration district office, Suhartanto said here on Sunday that based on information obtained from the facsimile sent by the Saudi`s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Indonesian labor services company (PJTKI) through the Indonesian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, Sri Harniati`s body was already stored at the hospital since January 2010.
"The migrant worker`s body has been stored in the hospital since January 1, 2010. But the PJTKI only received information of the worker`s death in March, because when she was found dead, the victim`s identity was unknown," he said.
Based on information from the facsimile who was also forwarded to her office, Sri Harniati allegedly died as a victim of crime in Saudi Arabia where she was working.
"Until now, the local police are investigating the cause of the victim`s death. In addition, the country`s authority seeks an immediate repatriation of the bodies," Suhartanto said.
Meanwhile, Sukrianto (48), husband of the victim, said his wife went into migrant workers in Saudi Arabia since August 2009. Sri Harniati worked as domestic servants. Until now the family was "shocked" to hear the news of the sudden death.
Sri Harniati is from the Kresek village, Wungu Sub-district, Madiun district, East Java province.
