JUSUF KALLA OPENS PMI NATIONAL CONFERENCE IN BANDUNG

Bandung, March 29 (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jusuf Kalla opened PMI National Working Conference 2010 (Mukernas 2010) in Bandung, West Java, on Monday.

Kalla said the congress was in line with the priority of PMI working program to step up the provision and the service of blood transfusion, natural disaster management, as well as health and social affairs.

He said that efforts to popularize the strategic plan and policy of PMI as its working guideline for the next five years period would be discussed at the Mukernas, themed "Together for Humanity."
The former vice president who said to have visited PMI chapters in 19 regions said he did not only give awards to the PMI's best chapter but also to its worse chapter.

"Even to the worst chapters we give them award so that they can make every effort to become the best," Kalla said.

He added that the level of achievement made by PMI chapters could be seen from three aspects namely active management, regional government support, and public participation.

"The public should certainly participate in PMI efforts to provide as much blood as possible to meet the need for blood," Kalla said.
