DEMOCRAT PARTY EYES 30 PERCENT OF VOTES IN 2014 ELECTION
Jakarta, March 29 (ANTARA) - Marzuki Alie, the Democrat Party's former secretary general, has predicted that the party would be able to gain 30 percent of votes in 2014 legislative election.
"By studying from the political constellation and applying certain strategy, the target of 30 percent of the vote can be reached in the 2014 legislative election," Marzuki Alie said before attending a discussion on "The Democrat Party in the Future" here on Monday.
Marzuki said he would see the position of the party to find its strong point and weak point, as well as its present opportunity and challenge.
Based on that position, he said whether the party would be in the first quadrant which has a wider opportunity, or in the second quadrant with more challenge.
"If the Democrat Party has been in the first quadrant, the party will have a wider opportunity to reach the target, but if it is on the second quadrant, it should be pushed into the first quadrant in order to reach its target," Marzuki said.
Marzuki said he had to postpone the discussion, which was scheduled on Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon because he had to respect the Democrat Party's national coordination meeting which was concluded on Sunday evening.
He said the discussion was intended to obtain response and input from the party's cadres on what they have to do to win the 2014 election.
