YTL TO TREAT SINGAPOREANS TO ANDREA BOCELLI`S CONCERT

By Zakaria Abdul Wahab

SINGAPORE, March 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's YTL Corporation will treat
Singaporeans to a free outdoor concert by world-renowned Italian tenor Andrea
Bocelli at the Singapore Botanic Gardens on May 8 as a show of gratitude to the
city-state for its successful investment here.

The YTL Concert of Celebration 2010 is part of a series of YTL concerts held
since 1994 to give back to the local community that has shown support for the
company, said YTL managing director Dr Francis Yeoh here Monday.

Speaking at a press conference at his Singapore office, Yeoh said it had
been the tradition of the company to thank the host country that welcomed its
major investments and proven successful by holding such a free and exclusive
concert to the local community.

YTL has previously staged concerts by Russell Watson in Kuala Lumpur, the
late Luciano Pavarotti in Pangkor Laut, and the Three Tenors, Jose Carreras,
Placido Domingo and Pavarotti, in Bath, United Kingdom, in 2003.

Saying the Singapore concert "is not a public relations gimmick" for the
company, Yeoh said "there is no better way to thank God and the local community
but through a performance by Andrea Bocelli".

The US$10.3 billion Kuala Lumpur-listed company has a number of successful
business operations here which include the recently acquired power generation
company PowerSeraya, Starhill Global Reit, real estate developments Sandy Island
and Kasara in Sentosa Cove and Westwood Apartments on Orchard Boulevard.

Yeoh said a similar concert would also be held next in China and followed by
Australia if the company's current small investments in both places turned into
big and successful ventures in coming years.

The concert at the Botanic Gardens that can sit 5,000 people will be
accompanied by the Singapore Philharmonic Orchestra and Philharmonic Chamber
Choir, and will also feature Slovenian soprano Sabina Cvilak, world-renowned
flutist Andrea Griminelli and popular Australian singer Delta Goodrem.

Bocelli, who has recorded six complete operas and sold over 65 million
copies of classical and pop albums worldwide, has previously performed alongside
renowned singers like Celine Dion to a vast audience, including the British
royal family, and former US Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush.

Members of the public are invited to ballot for free tickets by registering
at http://www.ytlconcert2010.com.sg from March 29 and successful applicants will
be
notified by e-mail.
