29,202 FLOOD VICTIMS STILL IN EVACUATION LOCATIONS
Karawang, Indonesia, Mar 29 (ANTARA) - A total of 29,202 flood victims in a number of areas in Karawang regency, West Java, are still in their evacuation locations because their houses were still deeply inundated, and for fear of after floods.
Head of the Karawang Social Affairs Agency Banuara Nadeak said Saturday (Mar 27) that up till Monday, the floods in a number of areas have receded.
But 29,202 flood victims were still seeking higher grounds at school buildings, mosques and others.
He said the flood victims were still staying at higher grounds in the subdistricts of Pakisjaya, Telukjambe Barat, Telukjambe Timur, and Karawang Timur.
Di Karawang Timur subdistrict up till Monday there were still 490 flood victims who have evacuated, 26,591 had evacuated to Telukjambe Timur subdistrict, 950 to Telukjambe Barat subdistrict, and 1,171 to Pakisjaya subdistrict.
Banuara said logistics were still being distributed among the flood victims, which will be continued until the end of the emergency response period ends on April 4.
In the meantime, according to the Karawang social affairs agency, the floods caused by the overflowing Citarum river had inundated ten subdistricts, namely Karawang Barat, Karawang Timur, Telukjambe Timur, Telukjambe Barat, Klari, Ciampel, Rengasdengklok, Batujaya, Pakisjaya, and Jayakerta.
