NATIONAL GALLERY PLANS 35 EXHIBITIONS

Manado, Mar 30 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Gallery will hold 35 exhibitions in 2010, its chief Tubagus Andre Sukmana said here Tuesday.

He said that the exhibitions consisted of the gallery`s own program, and those under a cooperation with other parties like foreign cultural centers or other national and international cultural institutions.

Tubagus Andre Sukmana also said that the cooperation with foreign parties included that with the Saudi Arabian and Mexican embassies in photo displays, the French cultural center with the support of the French embassy in Indonesia in holding a contemporary textile exhibition.

The other will be an Italian graphic art exhibition and an exhibition by a Malaysian painter Yusof Gani, at the Indonesian National Gallery.

Tubagus also disclosed that in observing the 102nd anniversary of National Awakening Day, a big exhibition will be held from May 18 to 31.

The exhibition will feature the artistic works of the senior generation like Afandi and Sujono to the present young painters.

The National Gallery will also organize mobile exhibitions, which this year will be held in Palembang, South Sumatra, featuring the collection of works of the National Gallery and those of the local painters.

"Meanwhile, overseas mobile exhibitions are scheduled in Vietnam in August," he said.
