GUDANG GARAM BOOKS RP 3.4 TRILLION IN PROFITS
Jakarta, Mar 30 (ANTARA) - Indonesia`s major cigarette producer PT Gudang Garam Tbk (GGRM) in 2009 booked a net profit of Rp 3.4 trillion, which was a 83.8 percent increase compared to 2008`s Rp 1,88 trillion.
The company`s financial report published Tuesday said the raise was triggered by the company`s sales 8 percent increase to Rp32.97 trillion, compared to Rp 30.25 trillion a year earlier.
And it turned out that the anti-smoking campaigns and edict banning smoking, did not stop regular smokers in buying cigarettes.
The increase in the sales also raised the company`s profit to Rp5.206 trillion, compared to Rp 3.165 trillion (up by 64 percent) in the same period a year earlier.
