Seoul stocks up 0.76 pct late morning

SEOUL, April 1 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.76 percent higher late
Thursday morning, led by tech and banking shares, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 12.91 points to
trade at 1,705.76 as of 11:20 a.m.
Blue-chip technology shares spearheaded the key index advance with banks also
lending support on expectations that Samsung Life Insurance's initial public
offering will help boost their second-quarter earnings.
Kumho Industrial plunged by the daily limit of 15 percent after it resumed
trading following three-weeks of trading suspension caused by woes over impaired
capital.
The local currency was trading at 1,129.35 won to the U.S. dollar as of 11:20
a.m., up 1.95 won from Wednesday's close.
