SUSNO : TAX MAFIA`S "MASTER-MIND" STILL NEEDS TO BE CAUGHT
Jakarta, April 1 (ANTARA) - Former National Police chief detective Susno Duadji said taxman Gayus Tambunan's arrest and the implication of Police Commissioner A in his case still needed to be followed by the capture of their scam's "mastermind."
"The 'stage director' of their scam has not yet been found. It is not Gayus who is just a small player," Susno said in a discussion at Doekoen Coffee in Pancoran, South Jakarta, on Thursday.
Gayus Tambunan and Commissioner A have been named suspects in connection with a tax fraud case. Susno had revealed that a "mafia" in the police force was involved in the case.
Gayus was taken home from his hide-out in Singapore on Wednesday and is now being investigated in connection with Rp24.6 billion in his account which was believed to have been derived from corruption.
Besides Gayus, the police have also named Andi Kosasih and Commissioner Arafat suspects in the case.
Susno said the kingpin of the scam still had to be found, linking the unit head, the vice director, the director (in the national police headquarters), examining prosecutors, the prosecutors and the judges.
"The stage director has not yet been found and therefore the government must find him," he said.
He believed if this was accomplished his station would be known.
He said he was not afraid to die for the sake of uncovering the mafia operating behind the case.
"I am not afraid to die. Everybody will die. If I die I will be recorded in history and make a history. Success does not belong to the coward," he said.
Former staff of the Defense Forces' Strategic Intelligence rear admiral Mulyo Wibisono meanwhile said the revelation of mafia operations by Susno was an entry point for Indonesia's future.
"Susno must be protected. If something happens to Susno people should unite. Susno has opened a horizon for the Indonesian nation," he said.
