Japanese doctors agree to cure Sakhalin boy with sweeping burns
YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, July 5 (Itar-Tass) -- After consultations with
Sakhalin medics doctors of the Japanese burns treatment centre, which is situated in Sapporo, agreed to cure Sakhalin teenager Volodya Novikov, 13, who sustained sweeping burns in the fire, the press service of the Sakhalin regional authorities reported on Friday.
All formalities for bringing the injured boy and his mother from
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Japan are settled thanks to the joint efforts of the
regional authorities, Russian and Japanese foreign ministries. A special
flight of the Sakhalin Airlines will bring the injured teenager to the
Japanese island of Hokkaido.
The Sakhalin regional authorities will pay all expenses for the
treatment of the injured boy in Japan, Governor Alexander Khoroshavin
said. The corresponding letter of guarantee has already been sent to Japan.
Volodya Novikov got in trouble on July 1. He played with his friend in
the abandoned garage, where the blast went off triggering the fire.
Volodya sustained sweeping burns, his friend received lighter injuries.
The Okha city prosecutor's office is investigating the details of the
incident.
