BISHKEK, April 7 (Itar-Tass) - President Kurmanbek Bakiyev of
Kyrgyzstan is well aware of what is going on in the republic, Kyrgyz Prime
Minister Daniyar Usenov said at a press conference here on Wednesday,
responding to the question of journalists why the president has not
commented on the developments in Kyrgyzstan so far. "There is no need in
it," Usenov said. According to Usenov, he informed Bakiyev of the
situation in the country on Wednesday morning.
Usenov assured journalists that the situation in Talas, where unrest
broke out on Tuesday, was getting back to normal. The situation in the
republic is under the control of the law enforcement agencies, which will
not permit the violation of law and order. Usenov described participants
in the Talas developments as "destructive elements" and specified that
their action had been planned in advance. Usenov assured as well that some
participants in the Talas unrest had even had Kalashnikov assault rifles
with them. Besides, they had captured two pump rifles from the policemen
and had offered resistance to the police during the dispersing of the
protest action with the help of fire arms.
