"MAD" MAN CRUSHES GER OF PROTESTERS
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ On Wednesday, a colonel T.Sainjargal, a director of the Information and Press Center of the General Police Department (GPD) and Yo.Ichinnorov, a member of the Civil Movement Demanding Performance of Pre-Election Promises (The Civil Movement) gave a report to media in the State Investigation Authority (SIA).
Mentioning that the sit-down organized by the Civil Movement started Monday on the Sukhbaatar Square pursuant to an official permission, a colonel Sainjargal reported that a dark-green “Toyota Land Cruiser-80” jeep with a plate number UBM-01-40 ran into a ger in which the protesters were and injured several people. It happened Wednesday morning at 5.18 am, by a man M.Mashbat, 48. Later it was found that he is a mentally-ill one constantly undergoing medical check up and control. On April 5 he was released from a mental hospital having been treated for 17 days. Despite his case, Mashbat possesses a “B” class driving license.
Just before the case, eight traffic policemen on four cars and six policemen from the Metropolitan Police Department were patrolling on the Square. As they said they could not manage to stop the car "because we could not predict anything like this". A total of 17 people were in and 51 people outside the ger. The six injured were taken to the Traumatology center with various injuries. A diagnostic conclusion has been awaited so far from official expert. The offender will also be investigated whether or not he has a legal responsibility.
For the time being, the SIA's section of investigating organized crimes has opened a criminal case in accordance with a special chapter of the criminal law. During the investigation, it was discovered that the jeep belongs to Mashbat's groom D.Ranjin.
Saying that the night spent on the square was not very peaceful for the protesters, Yo.Ichinnorov said that the offender was shouting "I will take revenge from Uyanga,". She is a leader of the Civil Movement.
