Lao Premier leaves for ASEAN Summit

VIENTIANE,08 APRIL (KPL) - A high-ranking delegation led by Prime Minister Bouasone Bouaphavanh left here today for the 16th ASEAN Summit, which is scheduled in Hanoi, Vietnam, from 8 to 9 April.
The 16th ASEAN Summit hosted by Vietnam under the theme “Towards the ASEAN Community: From Vision to Action”. The slogan features the ASEAN will materialise other agreements into practice and aims to create the ASEAN community in 2015.
The ASEAN leaders will review the previous output and challenges in the implementation of ASEAN charter and action plan of ASEAN community and determined direction as well as approving future cooperation
measures.
The progress of ASEAN linking draft master will also be an important issue and will be learned at the summit which schedules to open today.
The ASEAN links, out of many keys will be tabled. The effective linkage will facilitate and promote trade, investment, services, tourism and development in the region.
The meeting is to be held amid regional and international environments existing complicated.
The ASEAN leaders will discuss regional and international emerging issues regarding climate change and global economy is gradually recovering.
The Lao PDR will take this stage to further disseminate its foreign policy so as to improve the reputation of Laos to the regional and international arena.
In addition, it will be an important event to mobilise funds and solicit assistance from the ASEAN member countries.
