Government building on fire in Kyrgyz capital.

8/4 Tass 204

BISHKEK, April 8 (Itar-Tass) - Several fire brigades are putting out
the fire at the government building in the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Blaze
can be seen in the sixth and seven floors, where the government office and
the presidential administration were situated, Tass reports from the site.
It is difficult to get to the site of the fire because vehicles burnt
on Wednesday by protesters bar the approach to the courtyard.
About 2,000 people, whose aims are not yet clear, still surround the
building. Some of them have got inside the building and throw documents
and different objects out of the windows. Representatives of the interim
government formed on Wednesday have also arrived to the site and urge
people to disperse, not to aggravate tensions and help normalize the
situation.
Meanwhile, numerous groups of people keep getting together in central
Bishkek and walk from the parliament to the government building. There is
no police in the streets, although members of the interim government have
announced that law enforcement and power-wielding agencies have "taken the
side of the people".
