RI TO HOST 25TH PAN PACIFIC APPRAISERS' CONGRESS



Jakarta, Apr 8 (ANTARA) - Indonesia will host the 25th Pan Pacific Congress (PPC) of appraisers and consultants on September 27-30, a Finance Ministry official said.

The congress was aimed at developing the competency of appraisers and improving the appraisal service climate in the Asia-Pacific region, the head of the ministry's accounting and appraisal service development center, Langgeng Subur said here on Thursday.

The meeting would mainly discuss property appraisal and business appraisal which covered the application of fair value accounting, infrastructure valuation, and green building valuation, he said.

"Cooperation among Asia-Pacific countries which are also APEC members is needed to improve the professionalism of appraisers in support of the financial service industry in particular and economic activities in general in Indonesia," he said.

The meeting to be themed "Financial Crisis, Global Uncertainty and Borderless Competition" would take place in Nusa Dua, Bali, chief of the Indonesian Society of Appraisers (MAPPI) Hamid Yusuf said.

"The meeting will bring together around 500 delegates from 14 countries and will be opened by Vice President (Boediono)," he said.

The chief of the event's organizing committee, Rengganis Kartomo, said a number of activities including three-day seminar, forum, technical tour, chief delegates meeting and workshop themed "increasing your skill and knowledge with international expertise" would highlight the congress.

"Finance Minister Sri Mulyani is slated to deliver a keynote address at the opening of the congress besides the chairman of International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) Board of Trustee, Michel Prada," Rengganis said.
