SHANGHAI INVESTORS INTERESTED IN W JAVA PROJECTS


Bandung, W Java, April 10 (ANTARA) - A number of Shanghai investors became interested in cooperation and investment in the infrastructure sector in West Java province.

The Chinese interest came to the surface at a meeting between West Java Governor H Ahmad Heryawan and head of a Shanghai business delegation Tang Jun at the Pakuan building in Bandung, Friday.

"Several Chinese investors planned to build several infrastructure projects in West Java. Currently several Chinese investors and consortiums were building a project in West Java, including a dam in Jatigede and the Cisumdawu toll road," Ahmad Heryawan said in Bandung.

He also said that the investment potential in West Java will be very big in the next few years. On the occasion, the governor encouraged businessmen in the province to cooperate with the Chinese companies.

He also asked the West Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and regional organizations to prepare information and project plans which would be realized with the Chinese investors.

"This is obviously a golden opportunity to build the province, and communications and coordinations are therefore hoped to be optimized. The investment climate in West Java is quite conducive, which has become one of the considerations of the Chinese investors to enter and do business in the province," Heryawan said.

In the meantime, chairman of the West Java development agency, H Denny Juanda said he will encourage local businessmen to establish cooperation in the building of infrastructure projects, including an international airport in Majalengka, ports and new growth area.

Denny also said that the Chinese businessmen came to West Java bringing their own capital which has nothing to do as a loan, so that it did not pose any burden to the local administration.

In the meantime, head of the Shanghai delegation Tang Jun said that in a not too distant future the Chinese prime minister plans to come to Indonesia also for exploration of cooperation.

"He will come along with Chinese businessmen for cooperation with the West Java provincial administration. Shanghai Corporation hoped it could do more business here," Tang Jun said.

On the occasion Tang Jun and an entourage will express interest in various cooperation prospects in the province.

"We are very enthusiastic in building infrastructure project in the province. The governor has enthusiastically welcomed and support our plans," said Tan, assistant to the president director of Shanghai Construction Group.
