BISHKEK, April 9 (Itar-Tass) -- Head of the Kyrgyz interim government
Roza Otunbayeva rules out a probable civil war in the country. "We are
doing our best to improve the situation, the most important thing is that
we have instruments, resources and possibilities for this, as well as the
support of people, who are ready to protect new authorities," she told
reporters on Friday. "There will be no civil war, we will not let it break
out," she underlined.
Meanwhile, Otunbayeva acknowledged that the relatives of President
Kurmanbek Bakiyev are making many attempts to bring the power back to
them. Otunbayeva called these actions as bright-eyed dreams. Meanwhile,
she pledged that the younger son of the president went to the United Arab
Emirates in order to "command from the distance the actions of his
supporters" in Kyrgyzstan. However, she considers similar attempts
abortive.
Otunbayeva also noted that in all regional centres of southern regions
people's governors had already been elected from the oppositionists.
"Currently they need some support to stabilize the situation," the head of
the interim government said. According to the latest reports, Kyrgyz
President Kurmanbek Bakiyev refuses to resign and is staying in a
settlement in his native Dzhalal-Abad Region.
