OTHERS INTERESTED IN ISSUING BONDS IN RUPIAH
Jakarta, April 10 (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said international finance institutions were interested in issuing bonds in the Indonesian currency, the rupiah.
Sri Mulyani said at her office in Jakarta Friday that the interested international institutions included the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank.
She also said that the international banks were interested in issuing bonds in the rupiah because the bond market in Indonesia has become increasingly popular with increasing liquidity and capital inflow to Indonesia, which had also appreciated the rupiah.
"The inflation rate also needs to be watched, maintaining confidence," she said.
When asked whether bonds issued by international finance institutions in the rupiah would not eventually lead to problems, the minister said not in terms of liquidity.
She also said that the issuance of bonds by others would also reduce pressure on the limited bond instruments.
