Putin promises support to Polish plane crash victims.

SMOLENSK, April 11 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir
Putin has assured Polish citizens that the State Commission would do its
best to support the relatives of those who died in the crash of the Polish
president's plane near Smolensk on Saturday. "This is a terrible tragedy.
Ninety-seven people died. This, above all, is a tragedy for Poland and the
Polish people. But it's also our tragedy. We are grieving together with
you," the Russian prime minister said when asked what he would wish to the
Polish people at this moment. On behalf of the Russian government Putin
presented genuine condolences to all the Poles.
"The State commission will do its best to support the relatives of the
dead who are starting to arrive in Moscow. We are praying together with
you," Putin emphasized.
On Saturday, Putin met Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk who had
arrived in Smolensk to visit the crash site. Putin told his Polish
colleague how the events were unfolding 12 hours ago when the plane of
President Kaczynski disappeared from radars.
Putin and Tusk laid flowers at a wreckage of the Tu-154 fuselage.
Donald Tusk kneeled down as he was laying the flowers. After that the two
prime ministers who spoke to each other in Russian hugged each other and
went to the rescuers who kept working even with the coming of dusk.
After paying tribute to the memory of the dead, Putin and Tusk went to
the emergency headquarters where they had a bilateral meeting.
