TRANS SUMATRA HIGHWAY CUT OFF BY LANDSLIDE
Padang, Indonesia, Apr 11 (ANTARA) - The Solok-Jakarta section of the trans Sumatra highway was cut off by a landslide in Paka, Jorong Bukit Padusi, Koto Sei lasi, Solok regency, West Sumatra, on Saturday (Apr 10), at 4 pm local time.
Manager of the West Sumatra disaster control and handling center Ade Edward said heavy rains on Saturday at 3 pm caused the landslide, but there were no fatalities while traffic on the highway had to be diverted.
He said two heavy equipment had arrived at the disaster site the clear the mud which blocked the road.
Actually, he added, many points on the highway were prone to landslides which had their toll of human life, especially in hilly regions.
