MINING GAINS BOLSTER BEI INDEX



Jakarta, April 12 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI), here on Monday morning, started higher as investors bought up mining shares.

The BEI index went up 28.387 points or 0.98 percent to 2,873.933 points and the LQ-45 index rose 1.08 percent or 6.492 points to 556.566 points.

The Indonesian stocks moved upward as investors actively bought mining shares in particular, according to Alfiansyah, a research analyst of PT Bank Sinarmas Securities.

Some 29.46 million shares of PT Timah (Tins) were traded with a total value of Rp75.98 billion, at the final rate of Rp2,600 per shares, or up Rp75.

Antam shares were traded at a total volume of 24.19 million shares, worth Rp59.70 billion. Antam shares rose Rp50 to Rp2,475 per share.

Indyka Energi shares climbed Rp100 to Rp3,225 per share, with total transactions involving 18.24 million shares worth Rp58.65 billion, he said.

Among top gainers at the BEI were Astra Int shares that added Rp800 to Rp44,250, Astra AGro Lestari shares that advanced Rp300 to Rp24,500, and BRI shares rose Rp300 to Rp8,450, United Tractor shares increased Rp150 to Rp18,700, BCA shares that surged Rp100 to Rp5,780, Bank Danamon shares that increased Rp100 to Rp5,300, and BTN shares that went up Rp60 to Rp1,510.
