Primorye weathermen accurately forecast Pacific region weather.

VLADIVOSTOK, April 13 (Itar-Tass) - Meteorologists of Russia's
Primorye can now forecast with high accuracy the weather not only for the
Russian Far East, but also for countries of the Asian-Pacific region.
The forecast covers 45 areas in China, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia,
Japan, the Korean peninsula, Taiwan and Vietnam, and can warn about
weather changes 120 hours in advance, the press service of the regional
meteorological centre told Tass on Tuesday.
Computer system G-Scale S-450 has a special program for that. Ninety
percent of forecasts are true. Now the program is on operation testing.
According to the head of the programming department of the Primorye
Meteorological Service, Leonid Gonchukov, "an ability to forecast the
weather in countries of the Asian-Pacific region is a major step forward
not only for the Primorye Meteorological Service, but for the whole system
of the Russian Meteorological Service".
"Earlier we could not give such forecasts, as we did not have
state-of-the-art computers," he noted. These forecasts will be useful not
only for seamen or pilots, but also for numerous tourists visiting these
countries
