BRASILIA, April 16 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
said at a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that he is
planning to visit India this year. "Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin
has recently been to India, we will meet with you at international events
and during my visit in India," the Russian president said opening the
meeting with the Indian premier.
For his part, Singh confirmed that he is looking forward to Medvedev's
visit in India at the end of the year. During Medvedev's visit Russia and
India would be able to sum up the results of fulfilling those obligations
assumed in bilateral contacts.
Medvedev noted that "quite much has been done recently for the
development of Russian-Indian relations." "We see in this a good signal
for the development of strategic partnership with India in the future. I
hope that we will be able to maintain the necessary level of contacts and
rise on a new level of cooperation," the Russian president said. Medvedev
noted that without the meeting with Singh his participation in the BRIC
summit "would be incomplete."
Singh focused on the agreements reached during Putin's visit in New
Delhi in April. He recalled that the countries signed an agreement on
nuclear cooperation and agreed on 'the road map' for developing nuclear
power units, which are under creation with the assistance from Russia. The
Indian premier also urged Russia to broaden energy cooperation.
