RESIDENT CHAIRS CABINET MEETING TO DISCUSS DEFENSE INDUSTRY
Jakarta, April 16 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Friday afternoon chaired a cabinet meeting to discuss forestry and revitalization of the defense industry.
Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha at the presidential office said other related matters would also be discussed at the meeting.
"The agenda of the meeting is to discuss the revitalization of the defense industry and forestry, including environmental matters," Julian Aldrin said.
Present at the meeting which started at 2.30 pm on Friday were among others Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Agung Laksono, National Defense Forces (TNI) Chief Gen Djoko Santoso, National Police Chief Gen Bambang Hendarso Danuri, Industry Minister MS Hidayat, Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hassan, Research and Technology Minister Suharna Surapranata, Environment Minister Gusti Muhammad Hatta, and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa.
Earlier in the morning, Habib Ali and Habib Salim, the heirs of respected Muslim scholar Habib bin Muhammad Al Hadad, known as Mbah Priok, met with the president at Wisma Negara for a dialog.
At the dialog, the president asked the people not to be easily provoked but help maintain peace, security, and order.
Habib Ali and Habib Salim, the heirs of Mbah Priok who spread Islam in North Jakarta in the 18th century, had an informal meeting with the head of state in the company of Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi and cleric Habib Munzier Al Musawwa.
They met with the president following Wednesday's bloody violence in Tanjung Priok port area where thousands of public order officers stormed to a graveyard complex where the tomb of Mbah Priok is located.
"We meet with the president, and thank God the head of state will sign an epigraphy at Mbah Priok tomb and asks the people to refrain themselves from getting involved in riots around the area," Habib Ali Zaenal bin Abdurrahman al Idrus said after meeting with the president.
The two heirs of Mbah Priok then hoped that a polemic would no longer occur in the future and that the tomb would be renovated and opened to pilgrims.
