SUSNO READY TO MEET POLICE SUMMONS

Depok, April 16 (ANTARA) - Former National Police chief detective Commissioner General Susno Duadji said he was ready to meet a summons from police investigators on Tuesday.

"As a citizen I must abide by the law," he said at his residence in Puri Cinere here on Friday.

National Police deputy spokesman Senior Commissioner Zaenuri Lubis had said the police had to summon Susno for questioning because of information from suspect Sjahril Djohan that needed to be cross-checked with him.

Susno had been at the center of controversy after disclosing a judicial brokering conspiracy in the police force with Sjahril Djohan as a key player in it.
Zaenuri said there was a sharp difference between what Sjahril had said and proof held by police investigators which required Susno's confirmation.

Susno said until now he had not yet received the summons. "It (the summoning) must be done according to the law and procedures so that my presence will be legitimate," he said.

He said he must give a good example to the public by abiding by the law.

He said he had no connections at all with SJ. "How could I report him if I had a close relationship with him," he said.

He also said the question was not whether or not he had close a relationship with Syahril but whether he was involved in a crime or not.

Susno said he was also ready to be confronted with SJ. "It is no problem for me," he said.

Susno's condition had improved after suffering from a sore throat that forced him to stay at home for the past few days.

"I am better now," he said on Friday when receiving journalists wishing to see his condition.

He said he had to take a rest due to a sore throat that had caused a fever and a headache.

He said his body weight had increased since his discharge as the National Police's chief detective and so that now he must control his appetite for food. He was absent from Friday prayers because "he still needs to rest," one of his lawyers, Zul Armain, said.

Asked if he wished to disclose others involved in the conspiracy, Susno said he would not because "If I do so, certain quarters will be angry with me again. I have already been the target of d a lot of accusations. I could be accused of smearing again (If I did)," he said.

Regarding the public support given to him so far, he said that the support "was not for me but against our common enemies." He said people had become tired of injustices, manipulations, case engineering and corruption.

"The people have become tired about these conditions," he said.

Asked about Sjahril's statement that he had received money, and a luxury home, Susno said he would not comment on it. "I am confused when asked about it. So it is up to you to write. You may write I have six, 12 or 24 houses or everywhere." he said.

He said it was like the case of his accounts, which the chief of the Financial Transactions Analysis and Reporting Center (PPATK), Yunus Husein, had confirmed that they were all normal.

Susno said he would focus on the case of judicial mafia. "Therefore I will not dance to their tune," he said.

Therefore, he said, he would not respond to those issues very much. "What is the use of responding to them. If I am involved just arrest me. I am here," he said.
