Federation Council-US Senate group to discuss START ratification.
MOSCOW, April 18 (Itar-Tass) -- A Federation Council-U.S. Senate
interparliamentary group will discuss the planned ratification of the
START treaty. The legislators will meet in Washington from April 18-22.
Federation Council international affairs committee head Mikhail
Margelov and senator Ben Nelson will co-chair the meeting.
It is known that the treaty signed by the Russian and U.S. presidents
was not unequivocally appraised in the American Senate, Margelov told
Itar-Tass. "We plan to exchange views on the ratification prospects,
especially since the presidents said it must be synchronous," he added.
The nuclear summit results will be also discussed.
The Russian delegation, aside from Federation Council members, will
include other experts and entrepreneurship society representatives.
A presentation of the Republic of Buryatia is also planned to take
place in the U.S. Congress Library, Margelov said.
Senators of the two countries, Buryatia's President Vyacheslav
Nagovitsyn, Special Economic Zones company director-general Igor Kosov and
other officials will participate in the presentation.
With assistance of the Russian embassy and the Open World centre,
business meetings will be organised with members of the Russian-American
business union and the Inter-Atlantic-Russian business council for
cooperation between Buryatia and the United States.
