INDONESIAN 7 SUMMIT EXPEDITION TEAM REACHES NDUGU-NDUGU PEAK
Jakarta, April 18 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Alpha team of the 7 Summit Expedition on Monday succeeded to reach the highest peak in Indonesia, Ndugu-Ndugu, in Papua province, the team's spokesman said.
The team whose members were six young climbers Ardeshir Yaftebbi (26), Iwan Irawan (38), Martin Rimbawan (28), Fajri Al Lutfi (28), Nurhuda (28), Gina Afriani (22) the only women, succeeded to set foot on Ndugu-Ndugu peak (4884 meters above sea level) on Monday morning at 9.30 am East Indonesia time (WIT).
"Alpha team has reached the Ndugu-Ndugu peak. We have just received the news," Indonesian team spokesman Bambang Hamid said here on Sunday.
Bambang said members of Alpha team had returned to base camp to join the senior climbers attached to the Bravo team.
"For the next agenda, Alpha team on April 22, 2010, is scheduled to climb another peak n Papua province, the Mapulu, 4500 meters above sea level," Bambang added.
After reachint its goal of climbing Ndugu-Ndugu and Mapulu peak, the Alpha team is scheduled to climb several peaks in the world namely Kilimanjaro (5892 meters) in Tanzania, Elbrus (5642 meters) in Russia, Vinson Nassif (4897 meters) in the Arctic, Denali (6194 meters) in Alaska, Aconcagua (6962 meters) in Argentina, and the Everest (8850 meters) in Nepal.
All peaks climbs will be reached in the next three years.
