Tajikistan denounces attempts to revise WWII history - deputy FM.

DUSHANBE, April 19 (Itar-Tass) - Tajikistan denounces any attempts to
revise the history of World War II and to falsify its results, Tajikistan'
s First Deputy Foreign Minister Abdullo Yuldashev told journalists on
Monday.
"We are resolute in opposing any attempts to revise our great Victory
and to underestimate the role of the Soviet people in defeating fascism.
It was the Soviet people who, both in the front and in the rear, made a
key contribution to the victory over fascism, the brown plague of the 20th
century," he said.
According to Yuldashev, Tajikistan is making preparation to mark the
65th Victory anniversary. Tajikistan's top leaders will attend anniversary
events in Moscow. As many as ten participants in WWII from Tajikistan have
been invited to take part in the Victory Parade on Moscow's Red Square.
More than 270,000 Tajik residents took part in World War II, a third
of them were killed. Fifty five Tajiks were awarded the title of the Hero
of the Soviet Union, many of them posthumously. Tajikistan's last Hero of
the Soviet Union, Pavel Khazhin, died two years ago.
