Investigations say Saada post blast aimed to kill innocents

SAADA, July 07 (Saba) - The investigations launched into the suicide
bombing that took place by the post office building in Saada
province have revealed that the bombing aimed to kill people at the
building.

The mouthpiece of Yemen's Defense ministry September 26 quoted eye
witnesses as saying the bomb went off while the attacker trying to
attack the people.

The attacker and another person were killed and four others were
injured two of whom seriously.

A security source said the bomb is like those used by the Houthi
rebels who have been fighting the government forces since 2004.

The blast was believed to have been caused by a suicide bomber of
the Shiite rebel Believing Youth group whose members have been
fighting army forces in Saada since 2004.

Police officials said the presumed bomber was a 14-year- old boy.

Saada is a remote mountainous province located the border with Saudi
Arabia, some 230 kilometres north of the capital Sana'a. It was the
second fatal bombing in Saada in two months.

Sixteen people were killed and scores injured after a booby- trapped
motorcycle blew up outside a mosque after the weekly prayers in
Saada on May 2.

Fighting between Shiite rebels loyal to the outlawed Believing Youth
group, known as Houthis, and government forces has been raging on
and off in Saada since mid-2004.

Waves of violent clashes have since left hundreds of government
troops and rebels dead, and displaced thousands of civilians from
the remote province.
