PANDEGLANG HAS 19 HIV/AIDS SUFFERERS
Pandeglang, Apr 19 (ANTARA) - Head of the Pandeglang health agency Dais Iskandar said from 2004 a total of 19 persons in the area had been identified as having HIV/AIDS.
"The total was found until 2009, and this year we have not found new cases," Dais said in Pandeglang on Monday.
He also said that 11 percent of the total had died, and the whereabouts of the rest is still unknown.
He said that 80 percent of the people infected with HIV/AIDS in the area got the fatal virus from the use of syringes.
He said that they had moved to other places, and some had even gone abroad as migrant workers.
"Many of them got the HIV/AIDS virus, and later returned to Pandeglang," he added.
He also said that one of the sufferers was a seven-year child who got the virus from his mother.
"The child's mother is a prostitute, and had therefore transmitted the fatal disease to her fetus, but the child died at the age of seven," he said.
