INDONESIAN HOUSEMAID DIES IN SAUDI ARABIA



Pamekasan, Apr 19 (ANTARA) - An Indonesian domestic helper (TKW) identified as Saidah binti Karnito (43) from Mandangin Island, Kota subdistrict, died at her employers' house in Saudi Arabia.

Head of the Manpower and Transmigration division of the Sampang social and manpower agency Muhadi said Monday that he received news about the death of the Indonesian housemaid from the Indonesian embassy in Cairo.

"We have already sent the bad news to the relatives of the deceased on Mandangin island," Muhadi said.

Muhadi said the TKW passed away when she was about to be deported by the Saudi government.

"She fell ill and was hospitalized in Abudabi. He her life could not be saved," Muhadi said.

The relevant Indonesian authorities still did not know the cause of Saidah's death and were still awaiting confirmation from the Indonesian embassy.

Saidah died on April 8, 2010, after working in Saudi Arabia since 2003.

Muhadi also said that the deceased's relatives have accepted Saidah's death, and wished her to be buried in that country as planned by the Saudi government.

The death of an Indonesian migrant worker from Sampang in Saudi Arabia was the fourth so far. On March 23 also this year three TKIs from Tobai village, Sokobanah subdistrict, died at their employer's house in Malaysia, after shot dead by Malaysian police.
