Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara, April 19 (ANTARA) - The government is considering extending its cooperation with the World Food Programme (WFP) which will end in 2011, an Agriculture Ministry official said.
"Our cooperation with WFP which has been going on since 2007 will end in 2011. We are considering extending the cooperation with the world body particularly in increasing the capacity of the food and nutrition alertness program (SKPG) in the regions," the head of the ministry`s food availability and vulnerability center, Tjuk Eko Hari Basuki, said on Monday.
He said the government deemed it necessary to continue its cooperation with WFP particularly in strengthening the capacity of SKPG personnel. Anyway, the country still needed such expertise from other countries.
From the standpoint of food resilience in terms of making an inventory of malnutrition cases in the country, Indonesia already had the capacity to do so and therefore, it did no longer needed to ask for WFP assistance in the matter, he said.
"What we still have to do now is how to strengthen the institution. Therefore, we are considering whether or not to continue the cooperation which has been going on for four years now," he said.
