Abkhazian state security service confirms two deaths

SUKHUMI, Abkhazia, July 7 (Itar-Tass) - Two out of nine people who
were wounded during a bomb explosion in the town of Gal, the
administrative centre of the Gali region in Georgia's breakaway Republic of Abkhazia, late on Sunday have died in hospital of heavy wounds.

A source at the State Security Service of the unrecognised republic
told Itar-Tass on Monday that the two dead included Dzhankhus Muratiya,
the acting head of the Gali branch of the State Security Service, and a local woman who worked in a cafй hit by the blast.

The explosion roared in a cafй in the centre of Gal at 22:58 Moscow
time on Sunday.

The blast also wounded employees (interpreters) of the Gali sector of
the U.N. mission whose office is located near the cafй and Abkhazian law
enforcers.

Lieutenant-Colonel Alexander Novitsky, an assistant to the commander
of the Collective Peacekeeping Force, has confirmed the fact of the blast.

There are no casualties among Russian peacekeepers, he said.
