Russian pseudo healer awaits verdict
MOSCOW, July 7 (Itar-Tass) - A Moscow district court is expected to pass a verdict on pseudo healer Grigory Grabovoi on charges of fraud and embezzlement in huge amounts.
The prosecutor demands 12 years in jail for Grabovoi. The counsel for
the defence is demanding that he be acquitted of all the charges.
Grigory Grabovoi promised the relatives of dead people to resurrect
their loved ones or cure them from serious diseases. He also taught other
people the art of healing for money and then suggested his students
signing a contract with him for organizing training seminars in other
parts of Russia. He charged a commission of 10 percent from each of the
subsidiaries. The cost of seminar classes that gathered together up to 500
students was 2,000 roubles per person while an individual training course
cost 39, 100 roubles.
Grabovoi was exposed after a public row involving the Beslan mothers.
The healer promised them to resurrect their children who were killed
during the Beslan school siege on September 1, 2004. Several articles
exposing his healing activities appeared in the Russian daily
"Komsomolskaya Pravda" in 2005-2006. Grabovoi was arrested late in March 2006.
