RI-MOROCCO EDUCATION COOPERATION
London, April 21 (ANTARA) - Indonesian Ambassador to Morocco Maroko H. Tosari Widjaja visited Al-Akhawayn University rector Ifrane in Meknes province some 250 kilometers from Rabat for expanded cooperation in education between the two countries.
Al Akhawayn University used English as medium of instruction and adopted the educational system in the United States, Third Secretary at the Indonesian embassy Rahmat Azhari said.
The university was built in 1993 under a cooperation between King Hassan II and King Fahd of Saudi Arabia and started operations in January 1995 with 1,500 students, including 200 foreign students from Europe, the US and the Middle East.
In his visit, Ambassador Tosari Widjaja inaugurated a Job Fair in the company of Ifrane Governor Karim Lahlou Kassi and Al Akhawayn University rector Dr. Driss Ouaouicha as well as chairman of Alumnae Association Dr. Khalid Baddou.
The occasion was attended by hundreds of students and graduates of Al Akhawayn University and 65 national and multinational companies operating in Morocco.
Ambassador Tosari Widjaja and Rector Dr. Driss Ouaouicha discussed education cooperation and prospects of sister-university relations between Al Akhawayn and a high-learning institution in Indonesia.
Tosari hoped for cooperation between Al Akhawayn and the Islamic Sultan Agung university in Semarang.
He also mentioned a number of working programs of the Indonesian embassy for 2010 and observed the 50th anniversary of RI-Morocco diplomatic relations, development of bilateral relations.
