‘Holy Prophet 5’ war games start in Persian Gulf

Tehran, April 22, IRNA – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Thursday morning started military exercises code-named “Holy Prophet 5” in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

A range of home-built missiles will be test fired during the war game which will show the naval strength of the IRGC.

Various kinds of short range missiles will be also fired during the military maneuver which is to be conducted in four separate stages.

The ground, air and naval units of the IRGC will participate in the three-day exercise which is aimed at preserving the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, as the world’s key economic and energy routes.

The IRGC deputy commander, Brigadier Hossein Salami said on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic wants the world to know the importance of security of this region and its undeniable role in this regard.

“Peace and friendship, security, tranquility and mutual trust are the messages of this war game for neighboring countries in the Persian Gulf region,” he added./end
